Before "The Ghost Rider" had a flaming skull and rode a motorcycle, he was fighting for justice in the Old West. Picked by early comic fandom artist Richard "Grass" Green as the all-time career high for Dick Ayers, it is still a fun read today. Ayers is best-known as one of the top inkers of Jack "King" Kirby at Marvel comics and he was the main artist on "Sgt. Fury and His Howling Commandos" for most of its run. This highly enjoyable western series was picked up by Stan Lee and company (for a short-lived comic of its own and as part of "Western Gunfighters" alongside The Rawhide Kid and Kid Colt) after Magazine Enterprises gave up the ghost (sorry for the pun). Most recently revived by Bill Black's AC Comics Group as part of its its "Best of the West" anthology series as "The Haunted Horseman" with Ayers again at the drawing board, it ranks with DC Comics' Jonah Hex as one of the longest running "supernatural" western comics. These full-color reprints, taken from the original comics, are a great way to enjoy the early adventures of this Golden Age/Silver Age six-gun champion of justice.Product details
